Yemen Coach Before UAE Match: Ready for Gulf Cup 27 with High Ambitions
The head coach of the first national team, Algerian Noureddine Ould Ali, confirmed his team's readiness to compete in the Gulf Cup 27 tournament, noting that the technical staff and players will do their utmost to deliver a performance worthy of Yemeni football and make the fans happy.
During a press conference in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, this Wednesday, on the eve of the UAE match that kicks off the team's tournament run, Ould Ali stated that preparations involved several stages. It began with a domestic camp in Aden before moving to Jeddah for the final preparation and acclimatization phase.
He clarified that the team's roster includes a mix of professional and domestic players, emphasizing that the criteria for selection and participation are technical output and on-field performance, regardless of other considerations. He added that all players have the chance to prove their capabilities and represent the national team in the best possible manner.
Regarding the team's ambitions in the tournament, Ould Ali said that competing is a legitimate dream, but he stressed the necessity of working within the available resources and avoiding making promises to the fans. He affirmed that the goal is to fight in every match and give their all to achieve positive results.
The coach urged Yemeni fans to continue their support for the national team, expressing his hope for a strong Yemeni presence to cheer on the players. He emphasized that the fans' backing is a significant motivation for the team throughout the tournament.
For his part, national team player Abdulwasea Al-Matari stated that the team enters Gulf Cup 27 with a different ambition. He noted that the historic victory in the previous edition has given the players an additional boost, and the current goal extends beyond just winning matches to competing strongly and delivering powerful performances against the other teams in the group.
Our national team will begin its Gulf Cup 27 journey tomorrow, Thursday evening, against its Emirati counterpart. The match is part of Group B, which also includes Qatar and Bahrain, in the tournament being held in Jeddah.
