Mohammed bin Zayed Receives Saudi Defense Minister Amid Regional Developments and Disputes Over Yemen
UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz on Sunday, in a meeting that discussed bilateral relations and regional developments, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
The agency reported that Prince Khalid bin Salman conveyed the greetings of the Saudi Monarch, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the UAE President, who in turn, asked him to convey his greetings to the Saudi leadership.
It added that the meeting covered the fraternal relations between the two countries and ways to enhance joint cooperation to serve their mutual interests, in addition to reviewing regional developments and exchanging views on issues of common concern, in a way that contributes to enhancing security, stability, and achieving peace in the region.
The meeting was attended by a number of senior Emirati officials, including Vice President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, along with other officials and ministers.
The meeting comes amid regional developments and the Yemen issue, which has seen differing positions between Riyadh and Abu Dhabi in recent years, despite their participation in the coalition supporting the internationally recognized Yemeni government.
