Al-Mahra Destroys Over 5 Million Narcotic Pills
The Public Prosecution in Al-Mahra Governorate, this Wednesday, executed a decision to destroy a massive quantity of narcotic pills, totaling 5,284,000 pills. This quantity was seized in early 2025 at sea off Ras Fartak in one of the largest drug seizures witnessed by the governorate.
The destruction process took place in the presence of the head of the Al-Mahra Appeals Prosecution, Judge Hani Balhaf, representatives of the Al-Ghaydah Prosecution, and a number of local authority and security agency leaders.
The quantity had been seized during a security operation involving the Coast Guard, security services, criminal investigation, and anti-drug units, in coordination with the relevant authorities, before the legal and judicial procedures regarding it were completed.
The destruction operation comes in implementation of legal procedures and decisions and after the completion of the judicial process for the seized items, a step that confirms the continued efforts of the competent authorities in combating drug smuggling and trafficking and protecting society from its dangers.
