The Saudi project "Masam" for mine clearance in Yemen announced on Monday the removal of 600,000 mines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices from Yemeni territories since 2018.

In a statement, the project said its field teams have successfully cleared 600,000 mines, unexploded ordnance, and IEDs since the project's launch in 2018 to the present day.

It added that this achievement was accomplished over years of fieldwork confronting the danger of mines, despite difficult conditions and the absence of maps and precise information about their locations.

It noted that its specialized teams continued demining operations in various regions of Yemen and made great sacrifices while performing their mission, including sacrificing their lives.

It considered the removal of this quantity of explosives a step toward reducing the risks threatening civilians in their homes, fields, and roads, allowing residents to return to their areas and resume their lives more safely.

The project warned that the danger of mines and remnants of war still exists, affirming its continued efforts to clear Yemeni lands of these explosive devices.
