Taiz Governor, Nabil Shamsan, has directed the enhancement of institutional performance and functional discipline in local authority institutions, the improvement of basic services, and the tightening of market supervision, stressing that the governorate's resilience is a fundamental pillar in the battle to restore the state.

This came during an expanded meeting held by Shamsan on Tuesday with leaders of the local authority, executive offices, and directorates to discuss military, service, and humanitarian developments, and to set work priorities amid the circumstances facing the governorate.

The governor praised the sacrifices of the armed forces and the popular resistance in confronting the Houthis, appreciating what he described as their stances in defending Taiz, the republic, and state institutions.

He pointed to the worsening suffering of the population due to years of war and siege, the deterioration of living and service conditions, the continued targeting of residential neighborhoods, and civilian casualties, directing that violations be documented, damages assessed, the conditions of those affected be monitored, and their suffering be communicated to the relevant authorities and humanitarian and human rights organizations.

Shamsan stressed the need to enhance coordination between the governorate's leadership, executive offices, and directorates, set priorities according to actual needs, address shortcomings, and hold defaulters accountable according to the law, emphasizing that the local authority's responsibility requires redoubling efforts to improve services and alleviate citizens' suffering.

The governor identified the water, health, sanitation, education, electricity, and roads sectors as daily work priorities, alongside intensifying market supervision, preventing monopolies and price manipulation, and monitoring the availability of basic commodities and petroleum derivatives. He also directed to follow up on the conditions of the wounded, the families of martyrs, and civilian victims, and to distribute available aid fairly and transparently.

He affirmed continued coordination with the government, political leadership, humanitarian organizations, and donor agencies to mobilize support and provide service and living needs, amid the repercussions of the war, siege, and limited resources.

For his part, the governorate's Deputy for Services, Engineer Rashad Al-Ak'hali, said that field visits and supervision of merchants are ongoing, noting the stability of the supply situation, the availability of flour in sufficient quantities, and continued communication with relevant authorities to secure petroleum derivatives and basic materials.

In turn, the governorate's Deputy for Health Affairs, Dr. Ilan Abdulhaq, stated that efforts are intensifying to secure hospitals' needs for medical solutions, dialysis solutions, and essential medicines, noting that coordination with relevant authorities continues to provide them urgently, given the siege and the increasing number of critical cases.

The meeting participants affirmed their continued support for the armed forces, their work to improve services, and their monitoring of citizens' needs, stressing the importance of strengthening social cohesion and unifying efforts to face the challenges the governorate is experiencing.
