Political science professor Dr. Ali Al-Hail said that the military escalation between the Houthi group and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia exacerbates tension within the same country and increases negative feelings between Yemenis and the brotherly Saudi people.

Al-Hail added, in a statement to the "Al-Tasi'a" program on Al-Mahriah TV, that the continuous targeting of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia must stop, stressing that the Saudi people are brothers to the Yemenis, and that the Saudi government is keen on Yemen's unity, security, and stability, and supports its internationally recognized legitimate government represented in the United Nations.

He noted that aerial bombardment, despite its impact on the Houthis' military capabilities, does not decide battles on the ground, suggesting that the damage inflicted on the group does not exceed 30% of its capabilities, as it continues to possess a large strategic stockpile of ballistic missiles and drones.

He explained that the entry of new regions into the conflict, coinciding with the continued escalation, would deepen divisions and tensions among Yemenis, and between them and the Saudi people, pointing out that many Yemenis affirm that the Houthi group does not represent them.

In a related context, Al-Hail considered that the Houthi group operates outside the legal framework, both in its military practices and its statements, pointing to the difficulty of separating what is happening in Yemen from the tensions between Iran and the United States, in light of what he described as an exchange of roles between the Houthis and their supporting parties.

He stressed that the current war is not the product of a single month but has roots extending back about two years, referring to the continuation of the confrontation and its repercussions on Yemen and the region.
