Fierce Battles End with Government Forces Controlling Jabal Qirfan in Taiz
Late Tuesday evening, government forces announced they had secured control of the strategic Jabal Qirfan in the Harad Jardad area of Al-Shamayatayn District, south of Taiz Governorate.
The Chief of Staff of the Taiz Axis, Major General Abdulaziz Al-Majidi, reported that government forces, supported by the popular resistance from the sons of Bani Omar, managed to take control of Jabal Qirfan, one of the strategic sites within the mountain range in the area.
Al-Majidi explained that the capture of the site came after fierce battles with the Houthi group, which was stationed on the mountain, noting that the confrontations ended with the clearing and regaining control of the site.
He added that the confrontations resulted in the deaths of more than five Houthi elements and the injury of about 20 others, according to the Armed Forces' Media Center.
He pointed out that the Houthis continue to target government forces' positions with mortar shells at a high rate, amid ongoing tension and confrontations in the area.
