On Thursday, Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad al-Alimi contacted council members Abdulrahman al-Muharrami and Mahmoud al-Subaihi, and Prime Minister Shayea al-Zindani, to check on their safety and that of the government members, following the Houthi missile and drone attacks that targeted the Ma'ashiq Presidential Palace in Aden.

According to the Presidency's office, al-Alimi listened to an initial report on the attack's impact and the measures taken to handle its aftermath. He directed the relevant authorities to care for the families of the deceased and injured, complete the investigations, and enhance the necessary measures to protect state institutions and their employees.

Al-Alimi stated that the attack is an extension of what he described as the Houthis' approach of targeting airports, oil facilities, and civilian sites in Yemen and Saudi Arabia. He considered the targeting of the presidency and government headquarters to reveal the group's inability to confront the will of the Yemeni people to restore state institutions.

The President directed the military and security authorities to take the necessary measures to protect state institutions, counter threats, and respond to their sources in accordance with the law, ensuring the protection of civilians and civilian objects.

In a related context, al-Alimi followed up on the developments of Operation "Dawn of Yemen" and the progress of military operations on various fronts. He listened to briefings from Minister of Defense Taher al-Aqili, Chief of the General Staff Saghir bin Aziz, Commander of the Fourth Military Region Hamdi Shukri, and the governors of Taiz and Lahj, Nabil Shamsan and Murad al-Halimi, regarding field developments and the response to humanitarian needs.

The statement mentioned that the briefings included the results of military operations carried out by the armed forces with the support of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy since the operation began, which, according to operational estimates, exceeded 17,000 air and ground strikes on Houthi military sites, gatherings, and capabilities on multiple fronts.

Al-Alimi praised the performance of the armed forces, military formations, and the popular resistance, appreciating Saudi Arabia's support and the coalition's role in assisting the Yemeni government and its armed forces.

He also reviewed reports on the humanitarian and service situations in Taiz and Lahj, and the measures taken to deal with displacement, the needs of affected families, and securing basic services and supply routes.

According to the statement, the meeting addressed what the President described as coercive measures in areas of Taiz governorate infiltrated by the Houthi group, which included forced recruitment and mobilization, and attempts to impose ideological indoctrination programs in educational and community institutions.

Al-Alimi reaffirmed that Operation "Dawn of Yemen" will continue according to its declared objectives to restore state institutions and extend its authority over the entire country, reaching Sana'a. He considered that the Houthi escalation reinforces the necessity of ending the coup and preventing the monopoly of weapons and power outside the state's framework.
