Aden Refineries has denied the validity of news circulating on social media regarding an agreement to sell the refinery for ten billion Saudi riyals, confirming that the circulated document is a draft of a commercial agreement for importing and re-exporting oil derivatives, and not a deal to sell the company's assets or transfer its ownership.

In a clarification from its Public Relations and Media Department, the company stated that the draft dates back to April 2026 and pertains to supplying the local Yemeni market with oil derivatives, as well as re-exporting them from the refinery's tanks to East African countries, particularly the Horn of Africa nations.

It added that the discussions and talks between the three companies and the National Bank of Yemen did not result in an agreement satisfactory to all parties, leading to the cancellation of the matter at the time.

The company clarified that the sum of ten billion Saudi riyals mentioned in the draft represents the total proposed letters of credit for purchasing oil products, not a price for selling the refinery. It noted that no letter of credit was issued, and the company's assets were not mortgaged or their ownership transferred, contrary to what was stated in the circulated posts.

Aden Refineries expressed its surprise at the circulation of an unsigned draft as if it were a completed sale, and the launching of what it described as serious accusations without verifying the information's authenticity or understanding the context of the documents.

The company affirmed that the refinery is a government institution and public property whose ownership cannot be compromised, stressing its management's commitment to preserving it and working by all available means to restart its operations and restore its economic role.
