The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the attack it said was launched by the Houthi group, targeting civilian infrastructure that serves the Prophet's Mosque in Medina.

In a statement, the Turkish Foreign Ministry affirmed its support for Saudi Arabia, stressing the need to avoid steps that would increase tension and escalation in the region.

Earlier on Thursday, the spokesperson for the coalition in Yemen announced that the Houthi group targeted the "Taybah" power distribution station in Medina, causing one of the transformers to go out of service, without affecting the electricity grid.

Major General Turki Al-Maliki stated that the targeted station is a civilian facility that provides electricity services to the Prophet's Holy Mosque in Medina.

Al-Maliki considered the attack an extension of what he described as the Houthis' attempts to target the Two Holy Mosques, saying that targeting Mecca and Medina is part of the group's attempts to provoke the feelings of millions of Muslims around the world.
