Senior Houthi Commander Firaq al-Asar and 6 Aides Killed in Kahboub near Bab el-Mandeb
Media sources reported on Saturday the death of senior Houthi commander Firaq Mohsen al-Asar, also known as "Abu Saqr al-Qifr," along with six of his aides on the Kahboub front overlooking the Bab el-Mandeb strait.
The sources stated that al-Asar, who held the rank of major general in the Houthi group, was killed during battles on the Kahboub front. Other sources mentioned that he was killed in an airstrike that targeted him while he was on the front.
Al-Asar hailed from the Al-Qafr District in Ibb Governorate, central Yemen. In recent years, he held several military positions within the Houthi group, most notably commanding the so-called "First Commando Brigade."
He also participated in previous battles in Saada and Marib, according to the same sources.
The sources added that al-Asar was in charge of leading Houthi military operations on the Bab el-Mandeb axis and was considered one of the group's veteran field commanders. His name was also linked to mobilization and recruitment operations in Ibb Governorate.
