Red Cross Announces Delivery of Medical Supplies to Taiz

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said on Wednesday that it has delivered four trucks loaded with medical supplies to the city of Taiz to help meet the urgent needs of those affected by the conflict.
The committee explained, in a statement published on its website, that the medical supplies include sets of surgical materials to help hospitals treat those wounded by weapons.
It added: This delivery represents a crucial humanitarian step to meet the needs of the population affected by the conflict in Taiz, and it provides much-needed support to health facilities that have long been overburdened and are now under severe pressure due to the ongoing fighting.
The head of the ICRC delegation in Yemen, Christine Cipolla, said: "For patients with serious injuries or critical medical conditions, timely access to medical care can be a matter of life or death, regardless of where they live or which side of the front lines they find themselves on."
The committee noted that in recent weeks, it has provided emergency medical supplies to a number of hospitals on the front lines, including facilities near Taiz city, despite significant difficulties in accessing areas severely affected by the fighting.
It added: These facilities include Al-Riyadah Hospital in Taiz, the Military Hospital in Taiz, Hayfan Hospital, Taiz Central Hospital, the primary healthcare center in Dimnat Khadir in Taiz, Al-Dami Al-Ahkoum Hospital, and the Health Office in Taiz.
The head of the ICRC delegation in Yemen urged all parties to continue facilitating safe and continuous access, ensuring that impartial humanitarian aid reaches people in need wherever they are.
Cipolla concluded by saying: "Health facilities, the wounded, and the sick must be protected, and medical personnel must be allowed to continue their work."
