5,000 Cases of Epidemic and Respiratory Diseases in Taiz Due to Waste Buildup

The Siege Affairs Office in Taiz governorate announced 5,025 cases of epidemic, respiratory diseases, and fevers last October, caused by garbage accumulation in streets, residential neighborhoods, and flood drains.
In a post on the 'X' platform, the office stated that the waste buildup resulted from the ongoing Houthi siege, which prevents the transportation of garbage to the main landfill in the Hadaiq Saleh area, exacerbating health and environmental risks for residents.
This comes as the city has seen an increasing accumulation of waste since early last October, after sanitation trucks were unable to reach the main landfill west of the city, which is located in a contact zone under Houthi control.
