Sultanate of Oman and Brunei Sign Statement to Elevate Relations to Strategic Partnership
Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Darussalam witnessed on Tuesday the signing of a joint statement to elevate relations between the two countries to the level of a strategic partnership, along with a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding in various fields.
The Oman News Agency reported that the signing ceremony took place in Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei, and included an agreement for mutual visa exemption for holders of diplomatic, special, service, and official passports.
It added that the two sides also signed memoranda of understanding in the fields of labor and human resources development, health cooperation, economy and strategic planning, and agriculture and fisheries.
The signing ceremony was attended by officials from both countries, including Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion Anwar bin Hilal Al Jabri, and a number of ministers and officials from the Bruneian side.
