Anna Yevstigneyeva, Russia's Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, announced that Moscow will oppose the West's attempts to bring its European Union and "NATO" allies into the UN Security Council.

In an interview with the "Novosti" agency, Yevstigneyeva stated that the absence of an agreed-upon model for Security Council reform is linked to the ambitions of several Western countries, which are already over-represented in the Security Council, to bring in their allies from the European Union and the "NATO" alliance alongside developing nations. Of course, Russia will oppose such a scenario.

Russia strongly opposes the expansion of the UN Security Council to include Western countries, as this would hinder the establishment of a multipolar world order.

In his speech at the 18th "BRICS" summit in New Delhi, Russian President Vladimir Putin had called for expanding the UN Security Council's membership to include countries of the Global South, stressing the need to reform the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and the World Trade Organization.

In his speech during the "Russia-Africa" summit, Putin also emphasized that the lack of African representation in the Security Council is unjust, stressing the need to ensure its representation in international and global organizations.
