Scientists have managed to develop a new experimental blood test to detect pancreatic cancer in its early stages, before clinical symptoms appear.

The journal "Nature Medicine" and the website "Russia Today" reported that the test, known as "PANXEON," relies on analyzing several biomarkers in the blood, including microRNA, cell-secreted particles (exosomes), and the protein "CA19-9".

It explained that the test combines the results of these indicators using artificial intelligence techniques to assess the probability of a tumor in the pancreas, noting that trials showed its ability to detect the disease in the first and second stages with an accuracy of up to 87 percent.

It added that the test may help in the future with early detection of the disease in people at higher risk, especially those with a genetic predisposition or who suffer from chronic pancreatitis.

According to the source, more than 1,800 doctors, scientists, and specialists from different countries participated in developing the test. Trials showed its ability to detect more than 64 percent of cases of high-grade dysplasia, a precancerous condition that can develop into pancreatic cancer.

The scientists emphasized that the test does not currently replace standard diagnostic methods but may, in the future, help guide people in high-risk groups to additional screenings more quickly, contributing to the detection of the disease before symptoms appear.
