Minister of Technical Education Directs Institutes in Aden, Abyan, and Lahj to Enroll Landmine Survivors
The Minister of Technical Education and Vocational Training, Dr. Anwar Al-Mahri, has directed the vocational, industrial, and commercial institutes in the governorates of Aden, Abyan, and Lahj to accept male and female landmine survivors into regular study programs and short training courses, according to the nature of their disabilities and rehabilitation needs.
The directive was issued during a meeting Al-Mahri held today in the interim capital, Aden, with the Secretary-General of the Mine Risk Awareness Association, Nasrin Ali, to discuss the situation of young landmine survivors and ways to provide them with vocational rehabilitation that considers their varying ages and abilities and helps enhance their integration into the labor market.
The Minister emphasized the ministry's interest in expanding educational and vocational training opportunities for this group, enabling survivors to acquire skills and crafts appropriate to their abilities, thereby enhancing their self-reliance, improving their living conditions, and supporting their participation in society.
Al-Mahri stressed the importance of coordinating with the Mine Risk Awareness Association and relevant authorities to identify the training needs of the beneficiaries and select suitable programs for them, which would allow them to benefit from rehabilitation opportunities and open new horizons for them in work and production.
