Hadhramaut Teachers' Syndicate Reveals Details of Strike Suspension Agreement
The Hadhramaut Coast Teachers and Educators Syndicate announced on Wednesday the suspension of the strike, following understandings reached with the relevant authorities regarding the implementation of a court ruling related to the rights of teachers and contract workers.
In a clarifying statement, the syndicate said it had submitted a request to the court on Monday to enforce judicial ruling No. (140) for the year 1447 AH, noting that it received a court order on Tuesday for the immediate implementation of the clauses covered by expedited enforcement.
It added that the syndicate's leadership subsequently began a dialogue with the concerned authorities, which led to an agreement to implement the ruling, correct illegal irregularities, and activate an accountability role through a special committee.
According to the statement, the understandings included canceling the suspension notices for contract workers and guaranteeing their contractual rights in accordance with applicable laws, preserving their status, rights, and privileges.
The syndicate also announced an agreement to increase the incentive for employees and contract workers of the Ministry of Education office by a minimum of 60%, starting from September 2026, along with the authority's commitment to improving the educational process and teachers' conditions.
The syndicate confirmed the suspension of the strike while keeping the door open for negotiations, stressing its continued pursuit of teachers' demands through legal and negotiation means, chief among them the hiring of contract workers on par with those previously hired through replacement.
It indicated that it would continue to demand the rights of teachers who continued the strike, affirming its adherence to the demands it had previously adopted in its earlier statements.
The syndicate praised the steadfastness of male and female teachers, and the support of parents, school principals, and deputies, while also expressing its rejection of what it described as "illegal and non-educational actions" that it said undermined the dignity and status of the teacher.
