Met Office Warns of Floods, Urges Avoiding Watercourses
The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning has forecast scattered thunderstorms over parts of several governorates in the next 24 hours, urging people to avoid floodplains and valleys.
According to the weather bulletin issued by the center, thunderstorms are likely over parts of the governorates of Taiz, Ibb, Raymah, Al Mahwit, Hajjah, and parts of the Tihamah Plain and the western coast.
Scattered rain is also expected over parts of the highlands of the governorates of Al Dhale'e, Abyan, Lahj, and west of Dhamar, Amran, and Saada.
The center warned citizens against flash floods in ravines and valleys and being in or crossing their paths during and after rainfall.
It also warned of the dangers of thunderstorms and reduced horizontal visibility due to rainfall, low clouds, and fog on roads and mountain slopes, calling for appropriate preventive measures to be taken.
