Al-Mahra Sit-in Committee Discusses Governorate Developments, Praises Omani Support for Electricity Sector
On Monday, Musallam Ra'fit, Vice Chairman of the Peaceful Sit-in Committee in Al-Mahra Governorate, chaired an extraordinary meeting of the committee's leadership in Al-Ghaydah. The meeting was dedicated to discussing the latest local developments in Al-Mahra and the broader situation in Yemen.
At the beginning of the meeting, Ra'fit conveyed the greetings of the committee's chairman, Sheikh Ali Salem Al-Huraizi, to the committee's leaders and members. He emphasized the importance of maintaining Al-Mahra's security and stability, as it is a governorate that has distanced itself from the conflicts seen in other Yemeni governorates.
Ra'fit stressed the need to intensify fieldwork across the governorate's districts and enhance community awareness of the risks and plots targeting Al-Mahra and its unique character. He affirmed that preserving the governorate's security and stability is a shared responsibility that requires the concerted efforts of all.
Ra'fit stated, 'Those who try to drag Al-Mahra into the arena of conflict today will fail, as Al-Mahra is stronger today than yesterday due to the unity of its people.' He called for unifying ranks, strengthening cooperation with various Mahri components, and intensifying joint coordination to preserve the governorate's unique character and social peace.
The Vice Chairman of the Sit-in Committee also called on the local authority in the governorate to redouble its efforts to improve the level of basic services provided to citizens, particularly health, education, water, electricity, and roads, to meet citizens' needs and help alleviate their suffering.
Ra'fit praised the fraternal role of the sisterly Sultanate of Oman, appreciating its support for the electricity sector in Al-Mahra Governorate, which includes connecting the Hawf district to the power grid as a first phase. He stressed that this step will contribute to alleviating citizens' suffering and improving the level of services in the district.
The meeting concluded with a review of reports submitted by the committee's departments, a discussion of the plans for the upcoming period, and an emphasis on the importance of following up on and implementing them to enhance the committee's performance and keep pace with current developments.
