WHO Announces Intensified Medical Response in Yemen Amid Escalating Conflict

The World Health Organization announced on Tuesday it is intensifying its health response in Yemen amid the escalating conflict by strengthening emergency and trauma care services, combating cholera, supporting the displaced, and maintaining essential health services.
In a statement, the organization said that from October 12 to 20, it provided trauma treatment supplies to five hospitals, supporting about four thousand patients, in addition to providing emergency health kits sufficient for 50,000 people for three months.
It added that it delivered cholera control supplies to eight treatment centers in the governorates of Aden, Abyan, and Al-Dhale, and established a new clinic in the Al-Firdous camp for the displaced in Aden Governorate, while also working to deliver two mobile clinics.
The organization noted that it supported the vaccination of 200 children under the age of five against measles and rubella in the Al-Firdous camp, as part of its efforts to enhance health services for the displaced.
