2.6-Magnitude Earthquake Northeast of Sana'a

Today, the stations of the Center for Seismological and Volcanological Observation and Studies recorded a minor earthquake with a magnitude of 2.6 on the Richter scale, 16 kilometers northeast of the capital, Sana'a, at a depth of 18 kilometers, at 1:23 AM.
The center stated that the tremor is considered a minor one and is part of the usual seismic activity.
It added that the minor seismic activities recorded by the center's stations from time to time in some Yemeni regions result from the accumulation of stress on the Earth's crustal rocks in land areas, their influence by the seismic activity of the African Plate, and the continuous rifting of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
