Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Pakistan, and Turkey Reaffirm Support for Yemeni Government and Leadership Council
The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Pakistan, and Turkey reaffirmed their support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government, stressing their backing for efforts to achieve security, stability, and development in Yemen through a political process and a comprehensive Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue involving all parties.
This came during a consultative meeting held by the ministers in New York City on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, where they affirmed their unwavering support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the legitimate Yemeni government.
The ministers expressed their grave concern over the continuing tensions and hostilities in the region, affirming that dialogue and diplomacy are the only way to reach sustainable solutions. In this context, they stressed the need to adhere to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding to achieve lasting peace and stability.
The ministers condemned in the strongest terms all attacks targeting Saudi Arabia, including the recent Houthi attacks, affirming their support for the Kingdom's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security, and its inherent right to defend itself, its lands, and its people in accordance with international law and the UN Charter.
They stressed the importance of ensuring the safety and freedom of maritime navigation.
