Defense Minister Apologizes to Tribes for 'Erroneous' Warning, Orders Investigation
The Yemeni government's Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Taher Al-Aqili, apologized to the tribes for a warning posted by the Ministry of Defense's account on October 22 regarding tribal gatherings, describing the statement as "erroneous and unacceptable," and announced an immediate investigation.
In a statement on his "X" platform account, Al-Aqili said that the Yemeni tribes represent the "main pillar of the project to restore the state," stressing that the armed forces cannot be against them and will not target any gathering, whether a tribal mobilization or a civilian one.
He added that the Houthis' attempt to exploit the erroneous statement aims, according to him, to sow discord between the tribes and the armed forces, affirming the army's commitment to international humanitarian law and its customary rules in its military operations.
The Minister of Defense stressed that the tribes will remain a fundamental supporter in the national battle to restore the state and at the forefront of the confrontation with the Houthis.
