IOM: About 309,000 People Displaced by Escalation in Yemen Since August
The UN's International Organization for Migration (IOM) announced that the number of people displaced by the military escalation in Yemen since last August has risen to about 309,000.
In a report from the Displacement Tracking Matrix, the organization stated that the number of displaced people in Yemen from August 1 to November 3 of this year reached 308,653 individuals, equivalent to 51,436 families.
It clarified that Taiz governorate topped the list of host governorates for the displaced, with about 135,648 people, representing 44 percent of the total, followed by Lahij with 77,052 people (25 percent), then Aden with 58,884 people (19 percent).
It added that the remaining displaced people were distributed across the governorates of Abyan, Al-Hudaydah, Shabwah, Hadhramaut, Marib, Al-Mahrah, and Al-Dhale, in varying proportions.
