Grundberg: Attacks on Saudi Arabia Pose a Serious Threat to Regional Security

The UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, condemned the continuous attacks launched by the Houthis against civilian infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, including the attack that targeted King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Saturday, which, according to Saudi authorities, resulted in the death of 12 people and the injury of more than 300 others.
Grundberg stated that these attacks are a dangerous escalation. They pose a serious threat to regional security, perpetuate the cycle of violence, and further complicate peace efforts in Yemen.
The UN envoy called on the Houthis to stop these attacks. He also renewed his call to respect international humanitarian law, including the prohibition of attacks against civilians and civilian objects.
On Sunday, the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation announced the death of 12 people and the injury of 309 others as a result of an attack that targeted King Khalid International Airport in the capital, Riyadh, on Saturday.
In a follow-up statement, the Authority said that the dead included 4 Saudi citizens and 8 residents of Bangladeshi, American, Egyptian, Jordanian, Syrian, Palestinian, and Sudanese nationalities.
It added that the injured are receiving the necessary medical care in several hospitals, noting that some are in critical condition, while the material damage resulting from the attack is being assessed.
