Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Afrah Al-Zouba discussed on Saturday with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan the bilateral relations between the two countries, ways to enhance them to serve the interests of both nations and peoples, in addition to the latest developments in Yemen and the region.

The two sides discussed ways to activate joint agreements and committees, expand cooperation in education, health, energy, and investment, as well as attending to the interests of the Yemeni community in Turkey and facilitating their affairs.

The meeting also addressed the Houthi group's escalation and its attacks on civilians, state institutions, and vital civilian facilities in Yemen and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including airports and oil installations, and their threats to international navigation in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab, and the repercussions of this on the region's security and stability, according to the Saba agency.

Al-Zouba affirmed that restoring state institutions and extending their authority over the entire national territory is a cornerstone for the security of Yemen and the region and for protecting international navigation. She stressed the importance of supporting the government's efforts and enabling it to secure coasts and ports, address sources of threat, and prevent the flow of weapons to militias, in accordance with agreed-upon references and relevant UN Security Council resolutions, in a way that preserves Yemen's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

The Minister praised Turkey's supportive positions for the Yemeni government, and what was included in the joint statement issued by the meeting of the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt, and Pakistan in Istanbul, which condemned the Houthi escalation and attacks on civilians and international navigation, and showed solidarity with Yemen and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

For his part, the Turkish Foreign Minister affirmed his country's firm support for Yemen, its unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and its keenness to strengthen its relations with the Republic of Yemen, develop bilateral cooperation, and intensify consultation on issues of common interest. He stressed the importance of ensuring the security and freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab.
