Astronomer Adnan Al-Shawafi predicted on Sunday that the scope of scattered, varied-intensity rainfall will expand across several Yemeni regions, starting from Monday and continuing until the end of the current week.

In his weather bulletin, Al-Shawafi stated that the expected rainfall from August 16 to 21, 2026, may be accompanied by downdrafts, and it is possible that hailstones may occur in some areas.

He clarified that the regions of Ibb, Raymah, Al Mahwit, Al Dhale'e, western Saada and Amran, eastern Hajjah, western Sana'a, western Dhamar, northern Abyan, and eastern Al Hudaydah, in addition to the mountain highlands in eastern and central Taiz, northeastern Lahij, and northern Abyan, may witness rainfall with a coverage rate of about 50% or more.

He indicated that the rainfall might cover between 25% and 50% of the areas of western Al Jawf, western Ma'rib, Al Bayda, eastern Dhamar, and eastern Sana'a, in addition to the highlands in Shabwah and the eastern plateaus in Hadhramaut and Al Mahrah.

According to Al-Shawafi, the remaining regions and governorates, especially coastal areas and inland deserts, may experience rainfall of less than 30%, with continued hot to extremely hot weather, particularly in the inland deserts.

Astronomer Al-Shawafi called for following weather bulletins and updates in the coming days, in light of the expected changes in the scope and intensity of rainfall.
