Valencia Secures First La Liga Win Against Alavés
Valencia secured its first victory of the season in the Spanish football league, after defeating its host Deportivo Alavés with a single goal on Tuesday, as part of the sixth round of the competition.
Spanish winger Luis Rioja scored the only goal of the match in the 78th minute, giving Valencia three valuable points away from home and moving them out of the bottom of the league standings.
The win came after a disappointing start to the season that resulted in the dismissal of coach Carlos Corberán, with the team playing the match under an interim coaching staff.
Valencia raised its points tally to four, in seventeenth place, behind Celta Vigo on goal difference, while Alavés's points remained at 10 in fourth place, ahead of Atlético Madrid and Sevilla on goal difference, before the completion of the round's matches.
