The city of Ataq in Shabwa witnessed a public appearance today, Wednesday, by the head of the Transitional Council branch in the governorate, Lahmar bin Lasoud, accompanied by other figures and dozens of gunmen, despite previous official decisions ordering their arrest.
These movements come on the back of previous positions and statements made by the head of the Shabwa Transitional Council in recent months, which were described as hostile to the legitimate government and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
According to information from local sources, this public appearance coincided with accusations against the local authority for facilitating the movements of these elements and providing cover for their armed presence within the governorate's capital.
The incident has raised questions about the circumstances under which security-wanted individuals, accompanied by armed groups, were allowed to appear, and about the seriousness of official authorities in enforcing the law and asserting the state's authority.
