The presidency of Al-Mahra University attributed the delay in paying the dues of academic and administrative contractors to the cessation of financial support provided by the local authority in the governorate, and the lack of alternative funding to cover the resulting obligations.

In a clarifying statement issued Tuesday, the university said it understands the contractors' hardship and appreciates their efforts in continuing the educational and administrative process, affirming its commitment to ensuring they receive their dues regularly.

It explained that redirecting revenues to the central government led to the halt of local authority support, noting that the operational expenses approved by the Ministry of Finance for the university do not exceed 50% of the funds previously provided by the local authority.

It added that the accumulation of debts over the past months, during which no financial allocations were received, has exacerbated the difficulties and affected its ability to meet its financial obligations to the contractors.

The university presidency called on the government and the Ministry of Finance to provide the necessary funds to pay the outstanding dues and settle debts, and to increase operational expenses in line with the university's needs to ensure regular payments in the future.

It also called on the local authority to continue supporting the university in coordination with central agencies, reiterating its understanding of the contractors' demands and calling for continued dialogue between the concerned parties to address the crisis and ensure the continuation of the educational process.
