Pope of the Vatican: I Follow the Grave Humanitarian Situation in Taiz with Concern

On Sunday, Pope Leo, the Pope of the Vatican, called for an end to the violence in Yemen before crowds in St. Peter's Square, after performing his traditional Sunday prayer.
The Pope expressed particular concern about the humanitarian situation in the city of Taiz, saying, "I am following with concern the grave humanitarian situation in Yemen, especially in the city of Taiz, where the population is suffering from a lack of food, water, and medical care."
He added: "I make a heartfelt appeal for a halt to hostilities, and to ensure the right of the Yemeni people and all peoples of the region to live in peace."
The Pope said: "It has become clearer today, more than ever, that wars, in addition to sowing death and destruction, impoverish the world and cause it harm."
