National Commission of Inquiry: Escalating Conflict Increases Violations, Complicates Victim Access
On Friday, the National Commission to Investigate Alleged Violations of Human Rights presented to ambassadors and representatives of Arab diplomatic missions in Geneva the main findings of its fourteenth periodic report and updates on the human rights situation in Yemen, amid the widening scope of the conflict and the escalating pace of violations.
During the meeting, the Commission's chairman, Judge Ahmed Al-Muflihi, presented the monitoring and investigation results included in the fourteenth periodic report, along with the main challenges faced by the Commission's teams and the key recommendations concluded in the report.
The meeting addressed the developments in Yemen's human rights situation, the repercussions of the widening armed conflict on civilians, and the accompanying rise in violations. It also covered the increasing responsibilities the Commission faces in continuing its field investigations and reaching victims and violation sites.
The ambassadors and representatives of Arab diplomatic missions affirmed their follow-up on the Commission's work and reports, noting the importance of its role in monitoring and investigating violations and documenting victims' rights.
