Iranian army spokesman Mohammad Akrami-Nia said that the Iranian armed forces are ready for any new US attacks, after US President Donald Trump said he rejected an Iranian proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end the fighting.

Akrami-Nia added, speaking to Iranian media, that the Iranian armed forces are fully prepared for a confrontation, warning that the United States would suffer greater damage if it launched another attack on his country.

Nia's statement follows another by the Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Armed Forces, Amir Hatami, in which he said the war has reached a critical and decisive stage, adding that Tehran will not accept a situation where it is unable to trade while foreign powers use the region's strategic waterways.

He added, “If Iran cannot trade, and if Iran cannot live, then no one will be able to trade or live. The Strait of Hormuz is our strait of dignity and honor, and the country's enemies will not be allowed to use this key logistical corridor while depriving the Iranian people.”

In the same context, Iran's official news agency "IRNA" reported on Monday that no new talks are scheduled between Iran and the United States, after US President Donald Trump had hinted at their possible swift resumption.

IRNA quoted a source close to the Iranian delegation in New York for the UN General Assembly meetings as saying that the delegation "does not intend to hold negotiations with the United States."

Trump had told "Axios" on Sunday that he expected talks with Iran to resume next week, the day after he rejected Tehran's proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 7 days.

Trump also said that his country would win the war with Iran very soon, stressing that oil prices would fall to pre-war levels after the fighting ends.

Trump added—in response to a question about the possibility of reintroducing the military option before the elections—that it is "possible," adding, "But I simply do not want to say that."
