Gold Prices Rise in Sana'a and Aden on Friday, September 18, 2026
Gold prices witnessed a relative increase on Friday in both Sana'a and Aden, despite a slight variation from one shop to another.
The price of a 21-karat gold gram reached about 187,000 riyals in Aden, while in Sana'a it reached 64,000 riyals.
As for the gold sovereign (8 grams of 21-karat gold), its price exceeded 1,503,000 riyals in Aden, while in Sana'a it surpassed 515,000 riyals.
These are the prices for buying gold from citizens, while they increase slightly when sold to customers, as a profit margin is calculated for each gram of the yellow metal.
The exchange rate of the local currency differs between Houthi-controlled areas and government-controlled areas; the US dollar exchange rate in Sana'a is about 535 riyals, compared to 1,555 riyals in areas under the internationally recognized government's control.
It is noteworthy that gold prices change from time to time and vary relatively from one shop to another in Yemen's markets, depending on global and local market movement, supply, and demand.
