Bahrain to Host Signing of Agreement to Regulate the Gulf Railway Project
The Bahraini capital, Manama, will host on Sunday the signing ceremony for the general agreement of the project to connect the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries with a unified railway network, under the patronage and presence of Bahrain's Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The signing ceremony will be attended by the ministers of transport and communications of the GCC countries, along with the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
The agreement aims to establish a common framework for the implementation and operation of the project, through four pillars that include defining implementation plans and timelines, standardizing technical and operational requirements to ensure network connectivity and safety, coordinating the responsibilities of member states, and monitoring the project's progress.
It also includes enhancing connectivity between Gulf countries by providing a safe, economical, and environmentally friendly mode of transport for passengers and goods, thereby supporting trade and economic and social exchange among the GCC states.
The agreement serves as a framework for coordination between the member states and the Gulf Railway Authority, with the aim of overcoming obstacles and ensuring the technical and operational integration of the Gulf network.
