Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Pakistan Discuss Strengthening Military Coordination and Activating Makkah Agreement
The chiefs of staff of the armed forces of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan held a meeting on Friday in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, to discuss security developments and threats facing the Kingdom, within the framework of the Makkah Agreement for joint defense.
The Saudi Ministry of Defense said the meeting discussed ways to enhance intelligence and military cooperation and integrate the capabilities of the three countries, contributing to strengthening deterrence and collective defense.
It added that the chiefs of staff reviewed the security situation and condemned the attacks that targeted Makkah and the Kingdom's civilian infrastructure.

The participating countries affirmed their commitment to collective defense and their intention to immediately begin translating the commitments stipulated in the Makkah Agreement into effective military cooperation.
The meeting was attended by the Saudi Chief of Staff, the Turkish Chief of Staff, and the Pakistani Army Chief and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee.
Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said that the Makkah Agreement for joint defense should not be seen as an alliance directed against Iran, Israel, or any other country, stressing that it is "an expression of shared responsibility for building a more secure, peaceful, and prosperous future."
He explained that the agreement, signed on August 7, is based on Article 51 of the UN Charter concerning the legitimate right of self-defense, and stipulates that any armed attack targeting one of the three countries is considered an attack against all parties.
