Yemen and Jordan Sign MoU to Enhance Environmental Protection Cooperation
Yemen and Jordan signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) today in the capital, Amman, to enhance joint cooperation in environmental protection and to exchange environmental expertise, technologies, and policies between the two countries.
The MoU was signed by Yemen's Ambassador to Jordan, Jalal Faqirah, and Jordan's Minister of Environment, Ayman Abdullah. It includes areas of cooperation in protecting air, water, and soil, promoting the use of clean technology, and improving the management of waste and hazardous materials.
The memorandum covers cooperation in ecotourism, marine environment protection, natural reserve management, combating desertification, and conducting joint studies and research to protect biodiversity. It also includes exchanging expertise in addressing climate change through adaptation and mitigation measures.
It also includes cooperation in environmental impact assessment and integrating environmental considerations into national development plans.
The MoU stipulates the formation of a joint technical committee to follow up on the implementation of its provisions, coordinate cooperation programs and activities, and propose new areas for environmental partnership between the two countries.
