Saudi newspaper "Okaz" affirmed that the Kingdom is committed to the option of diplomacy to contain the escalation in Yemen and the region, while continuing to take necessary measures to counter Houthi attacks targeting its lands and its civilian and economic facilities.

In an article published on its website on Sunday, the newspaper said that the attacks targeting Mecca, Medina, and other areas in the Kingdom will not undermine its will, noting that the military actions taken by the coalition in Yemen and the Yemeni government forces are having a tangible impact on the Houthi group.

It added that Saudi Arabia possesses the necessary capabilities and alliances to defend its sovereignty, lands, airspace, and territorial waters, warning that the success of some missile and drone attacks in reaching airports and oil facilities does not mean they will be allowed to be repeated without a response.

On the other hand, the newspaper stressed that keeping diplomatic channels open reflects the Kingdom's keenness to contain the escalation and prevent the region from sliding into a wider confrontation that could have serious repercussions beyond the region's borders.

It pointed out that Riyadh did not start the war in Yemen, nor was it the reason for the end of the truce that had been in place since 2022, noting that the Kingdom's priorities are focused on development projects, economic transformation, and expanding cooperation and investment, away from policies of hegemony and expansion.

The article emphasized that the Kingdom relies on the readiness of its armed forces and the cohesion of the home front in facing threats, pointing to the Saudi people's support for their leadership in the decisions and measures taken to protect the country.
