Statements from Minister of Information Muammar Al-Eryani and a Ministry of Transport statement revealed details of the distances separating two Houthi missiles from a Yemenia Airways aircraft that was preparing to take off from Aden International Airport towards Cairo, while another plane from the Egyptian capital was flying overhead.

Al-Eryani stated that the two missiles fell about 500 meters from the aircraft that was preparing to operate flight (IY 612), and about 100 meters from the middle of the takeoff runway, expressing his relief for the safety of the passengers and crew.

According to the Ministry of Transport, the attack coincided with the Yemenia aircraft being on the runway preparing for takeoff, before it was immediately evacuated, while an aircraft belonging to 'Fly Aden,' flight number (QFF101), was in the air coming from Cairo.

The Ministry specified the locations where the two missiles fell, explaining that the first fell near the airport's western gate towards the runway, while the second fell northwest of the airport.

These details, according to the two statements, highlight the magnitude of the danger accompanying the attack, considering the presence of one aircraft preparing to depart and another in flight, and the potential risks to passengers, flight crews, and aviation safety from targeting the airport's vicinity.

Al-Eryani said the attack could have claimed the lives of dozens of passengers, while the Ministry of Transport warned that repeated targeting of Aden Airport threatens civil aviation and endangers passengers and workers.

The Ministry called on the international community, the United Nations, and relevant civil aviation bodies, foremost among them the International Civil Aviation Organization, to act to protect airports, civilian facilities, and commercial aviation, and to hold those responsible for these attacks accountable in accordance with international laws and conventions.

The attack, according to the Ministry of Transport's statement, comes for the second time in ten days, a development that highlights the risks facing air traffic through Aden Airport, which Yemenis rely on for travel abroad, including for medical and humanitarian cases.
