Ronaldo Surpasses Messi in Historic Poll

Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo surpassed Argentina's Lionel Messi in a poll by "France Football" magazine to select the greatest Ballon d'Or winner in history, after his 2008 version garnered 62% of the votes, compared to 13% for Messi's 2012 version.
This poll follows a similar one conducted by the organizers of the Ballon d'Or award, who recently revealed a list of ten candidates for this honorary title, dubbed the "Super Ballon d'Or", to celebrate seven decades of football history.
As the football world prepares for a prestigious awards ceremony at the "London Palladium" theatre, the star of Saudi club Al Nassr leads the pack, securing 62% of the total votes in the official poll.
This lead comes thanks to the exceptional performance the Portuguese star delivered in 2008, when he led Manchester United to a historic double, winning both the Premier League and the Champions League titles.
In contrast, Lionel Messi is in second place, but with a much lower level of support; his record-breaking 2012 season—in which he scored 91 goals—received 13% of the votes.
