Brighton Stuns Manchester City at Home, Igniting Premier League Title Race
Manchester City's ambitions to retain the Premier League title suffered a new blow after a surprising 1-0 defeat at their home ground, the Etihad Stadium, against visitors Brighton in a match held this Saturday evening for the ninth round of the Premier League.
Brighton owes this precious victory to their Swedish midfielder Yasin Ayari, who scored the only goal of the match early in the 11th minute of the first half, following an organized attack that surprised the home team's defense. The visitors maintained their lead until the final whistle thanks to a heroic defensive effort and the brilliance of their goalkeeper.
This defeat deepens Man City's woes, following their stumble in the previous league match, leaving their top spot in the standings with 21 points provisional, pending the result of the Arsenal vs. Liverpool match tomorrow, Sunday. Meanwhile, Brighton jumped to third place with 19 points.
