Real Madrid Hosts Sevilla, Eying Third Place
Real Madrid hosts Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium in a match for the ninth round of the Spanish League, aiming to continue its historical dominance over the Andalusian team, secure a win, and advance in the league standings.
The match is crucial as the Royal team aims to reduce the gap with the leader, Barcelona, and avoid another setback before the anticipated Clásico next week.
The task is made more difficult for Real Madrid given the remarkable away results of the Andalusian team since the start of the season. They have not suffered any defeat in their four away matches, achieving two wins and two draws, an indicator of their ability to compete with rivals on their own turf.
The Andalusian team enters the match with significant absences, missing the injured trio of Jon Guridi, Alberto Siera, and Marcos Teixeira "Maracão", in addition to Isaac Romero who is suspended after being sent off in the last round against Levante for receiving two yellow cards.
On the other hand, Real Madrid cannot afford to drop more points. A win has become a necessity to maintain their chances of closing the 9-point gap with Barcelona, as well as the importance of entering the upcoming Clásico with high morale.
Real Madrid hopes to capitalize on Real Betis's 2-5 loss to Barcelona to improve its position in the standings and move up to third place if they succeed in securing the three points against Sevilla.
Before the match, the Royal team is in fourth place with 18 points, 9 points behind the leader Barcelona, while Atlético Madrid is second with 22 points, and Real Betis is third with 19 points.
