Maritime Authority Reports Second Attack on Tanker off Saudi Arabia
The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) announced on Saturday that it received a report of a second attack on a tanker in the same area northeast of the Saudi city of Jubail.
The authority stated that the attack occurred on Friday evening at 19:22 GMT, approximately 78 nautical miles (144 kilometers) northeast of Jubail.
The authority quoted the tanker's captain as saying the vessel was attacked by a rocket-propelled grenade fired from a small boat, causing damage to the aft part of its port side.
It confirmed that all crew members are safe, noting that a full damage assessment or information on any potential environmental impact is not yet available.
It added that authorities are investigating the incident, while urging vessels transiting the area to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity.
The authority had earlier today reported that another tanker was hit by an unknown projectile on Friday, approximately 68 nautical miles (126 kilometers) northeast of Jubail.
