Houthis Announce Targeting of Saudi Military Sites in Jizan
The Houthi group announced on Thursday that it carried out a military operation targeting Saudi military sites and gatherings in the Jizan region, southwestern Saudi Arabia.
Yahya Saree, the Houthi military spokesman, said in a statement that the attack was in response to what he described as "Saudi escalation in Yemeni border areas."
He explained that the operation was carried out using dozens of ballistic missiles and drones, targeting command and control rooms, weapons depots, and other military sites in the Al-Twal area of Jizan, which he said belonged to the so-called "6th Emergency Division."
The statement added that "sites and missile launch platforms at the Al-Daghaireer camp in the Jizan region were also targeted, along with a number of other Saudi camps in the area."
According to the statement, "the strikes resulted in the death and injury of hundreds of personnel from formations that it said included Yemenis and Sudanese, in addition to killing and injuring dozens of Saudi forces personnel and officers, as well as destroying and burning a number of weapons depots.
Meanwhile, the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen announced that its forces intercepted six ballistic missiles launched by the Iran-backed Houthis on Thursday, stating that it had thwarted attacks on the Saudi cities of Taif and Yanbu.
