Guterres: We Need Restraint and a Political Horizon in Yemen

UN Secretary-General António Guterres called for restraint and a political horizon in Yemen, warning against the escalation of hostilities around Taiz and the continuation of Houthi attacks on civilian targets in Saudi Arabia, which he described as "absolutely unacceptable".
Guterres, in remarks to reporters in New York on the eve of his trip to Egypt, said the attacks cause immense suffering to civilians and increase regional tensions, noting the UN's efforts to support the political process in Yemen.
He added: "The fighting must stop everywhere," stressing the need to respect international law, protect civilians, preserve the rights and freedoms of international navigation, and allow diplomacy to succeed.
